On July 9, 2025, the European Irrigation Association (EIA) held its annual Irrigation Day at the Société du Canal de Provence in Aix-en-Provence, France. This full-day hybrid event brought together key players from the irrigation sector across Europe to discuss major market trends, climate adaptation, and policy strategies aimed at strengthening the role of irrigation in sustainable agriculture and landscape management.

The Irrigation Day 2025 offered not just a full program of professional dialogue, but also valuable networking opportunities for leaders across the European irrigation sector. Held at the Société du Canal de Provence in Aix-en-Provence, France, the event gathered manufacturers, distributors, consultants, and institutional partners to share insights, discuss challenges, and connect in person and online. The hybrid format welcomed a wide audience while preserving the strength of face-to-face exchange.

The day included high-level sessions covering:

  • A European market roundtable, where stakeholders presented major seasonal trends from their regions and market segments.

  • The Irrigazette Editorial Committee convened to define future content for the association’s official media platform. Members proposed topics for both agricultural and urban landscape irrigation, ensuring the upcoming season reflects the real priorities of the sector.

  • The EIA General Assembly, which featured the approval of 2024 financial results, the 2025 budget, and updates on critical workstreams such as training, market intelligence, lobbying, and sustainability.

  • Presentation of the EIA’s Policy Paper on the EU Water Resilience Strategy, marking a coordinated response to a significant European policy milestone.

The afternoon included guest presentations by Jacques Béraud (Canal de Provence) and Céline Papin (EAT), who emphasized the importance of linking technical innovation to territorial water management. They also introduced the 26th ICID International Congress, which will take place in Marseille from 12 to 17 October 2026. The congress will explore “Water and Agriculture in the Face of Climate Change” and will be an opportunity for EIA members to participate in field demonstrations, expert panels, and collaborative sessions.
