The European standardization committee CEN/TC144* held its Plenary Meeting on 06/12/2023.
Summary :
- 20 decisions have been adopted at this 2023 plenary meeting.
- Participation of 34 experts from 11 delegations of CEN members, 1 representative of CEN/TC liaisons and CCMC.
This meeting provided an opportunity to report on everything that’s happening in each of the 9 Working Group.
At this meeting, the titles of the 9 WGs and their scope were reviewed and some of them were changed. In addition, new moderators were appointed for certain working groups.
New titles of the WG :
WG 1: General safety requirements
Development of common standards applicable to ail kind of agricultural and forestry machinery
WG 2: Tractors and self-propelled machinery
Development of standards applicable to Tractors and self-propelled machinery
WG3: Mobile machinery and trallers
Development of standards applicable to agricultural mobile machinery and trailers
WG5: Stationary equipment
Development of standards applicable to agricultural stationary equipment.
WG6: Manually portable forestry machinery
Development of standards applicable to manually portable, hand-held, powered forestry machinery.
WG7: Powered Lawn and Garden Equipment
Development of mechanical standards applicable to powered garden equipment.
WG8: Forestry machinery
Development of standards applicable to forestry machinery excluding manually portable forestry machinery.
WG9: Compact tool carriers for agriculture and forestry
Development of standards applicable to compact carriers for agriculture and forestry
Another important announcement: the Machinery Directives are to be changed to Machinery Regulations, meaning that they will become mandatory in 2027.
*standardization of tractors, machines and equipment used in the agriculture, horticulture, gardening and forestry, including the mobile irrigating machines such as reel machines, center pivot and moving lateral types irrigating machines, as far as safety aspects and sustainability issues are concerned.
