Introduction
Giusy Inferrera welcomed the participants and opened the meeting.
- Call to order, competition law
- Approval of agenda
- Approval of minutes of last meeting
Ocmis: Davide Vandelli and Daniele Zironi introduced Ocmis and their activities.
- EU Taxonomy
Francesco Dubini described the agenda and participation details of the Advocacy Roundtable on Sustainable Irrigation to be held on Jan 28th , attached documents tentative and confidential. Bruno will send a draft of his presentation to be held during the event and a suggestion of questions to be discussed during the roundtable. Giusy shared the Roundtable’s list of participants and draft agenda with the participants.
- Certification labels
Global irrigation alliance: The advocacy roundtable could possibly be a first step towards the certification label project. The taxonomy project can help in establishing contacts and creating involvement with partners and organizations to create a global irrigation alliance and proceed with a common certification.
- Plastic collecting and recycling in agriculture
The need of a budget for communication on plastic recycling has been restated. There will be a change in the EIA structure for communication and we will wait to refer to the new person in charge of communication, once he/she is selected. We will talk with Bruno and Moshi to define a budget for this activity. Bruno will look for materials that can support the topic for newsletters, communications and social media posts. Ido will analyze the last FAO report https://www.fao.org/climate-change/areas-of-work/plastics-in-agriculture/en
to see if irrigation plastic recycling is somehow addressed and draft a “recycling best practice code” that we can use in our approach to FAO or other potential partners or other communication materials.
- Communication
TEHA will issue a report after the roundtable for communication purposes. Journalists have been invited to the event.
- People of influence
The roundtable will be useful for networking. Javier Juarez proposed to contact FAO to understand how we can collaborate.
