EIA participates in the “ Green Deal Sports Facilities“ for the Flamish Region

The “ Green Deal Sports Facilities“ was launched on Friday March 11 for the Flemish Region ( Sponsored by the Goverment ).

Paul Van Breda, one of our active member, is the only one representing the Irrigation industry in this project. Paul will participate as an EXPERT – sharing experience and knowledge .

Green Deal is not about turf water management, turf water management is only a part of that. In his position as an Irrigation Expert , Paul is available for all kind of working groups to give advise , training etc .

He is now in contact with a local Office and laboraturium  “ PC Sierteelt “ for Ornamental Planting  and Turf.  His interest is the Rhizosphere (RZAW). If they manage to get deeper roots, they will need less water. He is  there to help them focus on watering practices and how to manage MAD.

A case study e.g. is a golfcourse where they try to limit maintenance (and water use) by giving

areas back to nature.

Another project is a sportsfield area with 6 pitches where the irrigation water will come from the patato industry (reuse of industrial cleaning water).

Paul will keep us informed with the different projects and send us up-date about them.
