EIA is looking for Policy and Advocacy support

Context

The European Irrigation Association (EIA) is a key reference organisation representing irrigation professionals at European level, covering agricultural and urban irrigation. EIA brings together leading companies and national associations representing a substantial share of the European irrigation sector.

EIA is increasingly engaged in EU policy and regulatory discussions related to:

  • the EU Taxonomy for Sustainable Activities,
  • the EU Water Resilience Strategy,
  • exchanges with the European Investment Bank (EIB) on sustainability assessment tools,
  • preparation for the revision of the Water Framework Directive (2028).

To support these activities, EIA is seeking a qualified professional to contribute to its lobbying and policy work on a part-time basis.

Mission

The selected person will support EIA’s advocacy and policy engagement activities, in close coordination with EIA leadership and partners.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Drafting policy notes, position papers, and joint documents;
  • Coordinating with an external EU-affairs consultancy;
  • Working closely with EIA leadership on strategic positioning;
  • Supporting communication and outreach activities;
  • Representing EIA at selected events or trade fairs.

 

Profile

  • Background in water management, irrigation (agricultural and/or urban), agriculture, landscaping, or related fields;
  • Good understanding of EU water, environmental, and climate policy processes;
  • Strong analytical and drafting skills (English required; others European language an asset);
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders;
  • Autonomous and reliable; experience in advocacy or EU projects is an asset.

Practical Information

  • Time commitment: ~1 day per week, at the beginning
  • Work mode: Remote with occasional events, regular online coordination meetings
  • Remuneration: €55/hour (all taxes included), based on analytical accounts
  • Expenses: Pre-approved costs reimbursed
  • Start date: As soon as possible

Governance & Selection

This is an advisory role with no governance or voting responsibilities. The person will work under the coordination of the EIA President and the EIA Strategic Advisor. Selection will be led by EIA leadership. Any conflict of interest must be declared.
