EIA Awards 2013 recognize outstanding Irrigation Innovations

EIA congratulates the winners of the 2013 Irrigation Awards!

EIA Irrigation Awards 2013         PRESS RELEASE 29 novembre 2013

Brussels - On 14 November 2013, the EIA organized an Award Ceremony to recognize and promote the irrigation industry’s most innovative products, site, project or services for environmental sustainability. The contest was open to all irrigation professionals who have built an innovative product, equipment, site, project or design that promote water and energy savings and / or bring innovation to the irrigation industry.

The jury was composed of a group highly acknowledged Industry professionals: Mr. Bruno Molle -Head of the Irrigation equipment testing and research laboratory, Irstea; Guy Van Doorslaer -Secretary General at the European Garden Machinery Federation (EGMF); Jaime Rivera - Founder/Partner at OGMIA Consulting services, and Michel Histel-Consultant at HS granted Awards in three categories: Landscape, Agriculture and Project.

In the category Landscape, Rain Bird, global manufacturer and provider of irrigation products and services, won the Gold Award for its IQ v2 Central Control System, as well as the (shared) Silver Award, for its copper-colored XFS Dripline with Copper Shield™ for sub-surface drip irrigation. Hunter Industries, a manufacturer of irrigation equipment for the landscaping and golf course industries, won the (shared) silver Award with Solar Sync, an advanced sensor to regulate the time of irrigation. Galcon, one of the world's leading manufacturers of computerized irrigation timers and controllers, won the Landscape Bronze Award with Galcon Smart Irrigation: a new line of web based irrigation control products.

The Gold Agriculture award winner is Netafim, global leader in smart drip and Micro irrigation solutions, with DripCorn: a specific integral dripper for Subsurface Drip Irrigation (SDI) for the Corn market. AZUD, among the world leaders regarding the manufacturing of filtration, irrigation and water treatment systems for agricultural, industrial and urban porpuses, was awarded the Silver award, for the Helix HLP.

The EIA Project Award went to the “Casa e Museu das Historias Paula Rego” a project developed in collaboration with Fluidra Portugal, a multinational, dedicated to developing applications for sustainable water use, and AFA consult.

EIA President, Paulo Félix, congratulated all winners with their award and expressed my wish that this first edition EIA Award will grant them with the deserved appreciation and visibility of their product/services. His final appreciation went out to the sponsor of the 2013 Irrigation Days: Gold Sponsors: Hunter Industries and Rain Bird, Silver Sponsors: Eurodrip and Netafim, an In-Kind sponsor Irrigazette, for their dedication and support to the EIA.
